Retreat to Essaouria: Lifestyle & travel photography

A few years ago interior designer Amelia Pearson followed her dream and moved her life out to the beautiful Moroccan port town of Essaouria, splitting her business between the UK and Morocco. As well as interior design services, Amelia offers bespoke creative retreats in the area, working with the wealth of talented local artisans and artists who live and work around the 18th Century Medina. It's a stunning backdrop with it's high stone walls, and incredible light and was a dream to shoot in. Amelia wanted to create a series of environmental portraits, centred around the place which has given inspiration for her interior design business, and prompted her intercontinental move.

Villa Maroc, a boutique hotel and restaurant set high in the walls of the medina overlooking the sea, is one of the places Amelia knew she wanted to be photographed. Formerly four traditional riads which have been combined and lovingly renovated, the unique design highlights the craftsmanship of the local artisans Amelia loves to work with.

We spent an amazing day exploring the Media together and visiting some of Amelia's favourite places to bring her retreat guests.

I feel very lucky to be commissioned by creative businesses like Amelia's that combine my work with my love of travel and exploring new places. If you have an exciting new venture or established business, and need help creating images that show just why you love what you do, id love to hear from you.
